I slept during the Apple Event as I’m based in Abu Dhabi, 9 hours ahead of Silicon Valley time and well, I just couldn’t hang. When I woke up the next morning, I eagerly sifted through tweets and links for a comprehensive list of highlights from the announcement. I read all about iPad Pro, Apple TV and iPhone but I didn’t have a moment of truly geeked out excitement until I discovered what could very well be the collaboration of the year, between Apple and Hermès.
Who knew the tech giant, currently holding 19.9% of the global wearables market according to IDC Worldwide, had its eye on fashion? Given Apple’s reputation for impeccable design, it’s not a far cry but in a world where run by megapixels and gigabytes there’s often little regard for style. Hermès, known for premium craftsmanship is the perfect partner to bring the Watch into focus for the mainstream fashion elite. This luxurious blend of tech and style is sure to catch the eye of many and raise the bar for wearables of all kind.
Apple Watch Hermès features a stainless steel body and finely crafted leather bands, available in three varieties to include Single Tour, Double Tour and Cuff. The Single Tour with the 38 mm stainless steel case comes in fauve Barenia leather, noir Box leather and capucine Swift leather, while the Single Tour with 42 mm stainless steel case comes in fauve Barenia leather and noir Box leather. The Double Tour pairs with the 38 mm stainless steel case and is available in fauve Barenia leather and bleu jean, capucine and étain Swift leather. The Cuff pairs with the 42 mm stainless steel case and is available in fauve Barenia leather only. And, it gets better. To not the be confused with any other variety of the Apple Watch, each stainless steel case features an etching of the Hermès signature and includes a customizable face with three exclusive dial designs inspired by Clipper, Cape Cod and Espace Hermès watches. Apple Watch Hermès starts at $1,100 (US) for the 38 mm stainless steel case with the Single Tour, $1,150 (US) for the 42 mm stainless steel case with the Single Tour, $1,250 (US) for the 38 mm stainless steel case with the Double Tour and $1,500 (US) for the 42 mm stainless steel case with the Cuff.
