The Nail Spa is an award-winning franchise throughout the Emirates with three locations in Abu Dhabi: Eastern Mangroves, Al Wahda Mall and World Trade Center Mall. I had services done at the stunning Eastern Mangroves Promenade location. Nestled among other fine retail establishments in the Jana hotel, The Nail Spa is adjacent to excellent casual dining and well positioned for guests to take in breathtaking views of the mangroves. This prime location offers customers the chance to be pampered and dine in style, all in a single place. Inside the spa, guests are welcomed into a modern and serene space. The pedicure stations are situated on the outer edges of the room with ample spacing and comfortable seating. Sheer, white linens separate the stations and gives guests a bit of privacy. What I liked most in the environment was seeing the slogan, “…just be beautiful”, which is printed on chair pillows, as I approached my seat. What a nice sentiment to arrive to.
This was my first visit to any Nail Spa salon and it was also my first time traveling to the Eastern Mangroves Promenade. I googled directions but also called the spa for more detailed directions. The receptionist was very accommodating and helped me to get there seamlessly. I appreciated their willingness to go the extra mile and help me arrive hassle free. I opted for my regular spa services – a gel manicure and essential pedicure. I was especially eager to try the new Essie Gel collection which is available at all Nail Spa locations. (More on Essie Gel below) My manicure and pedicure were done simultaneously and both therapists were polite and thorough. I am seven months pregnant and the staff made sure to accommodate my physical state. They helped me up and down from the platform, made sure my seating was comfortable and most of all they were intuitive enough to help protect my growing belly from UV rays which can be harmful to pregnant women. I was offered water and refreshments and well accommodated throughout the service. I was even treated to the monthly special. Yes…you read correctly. The Nail Spa offers specials on a different different product or service each month. This month, it was the Tribal candle which smells delightful and transforms into a blend of three essential oils for the skin when burned. The warm massage oil felt amazing. You can purchase the candle, at a generous discount, for the entire month of September.
The staff took pride in themselves, the salon and the services they rendered. Consequently, The Nail Spa has been nominated for a What’s On Award. The ladies wore printed, satin sashes and buttons to let their customers know about the impending award and how to vote. They looked charming and advertised the awards in a creative, non-invasive way. When my services were complete, I was presented with a tablet to complete a short survey. As a tech blogger, it was truly refreshing to me to see an establishment using technology effectively. The survey was quick and user-friendly.
About Essie Gel
The Nail Spa offers the full line of new Essie Gel colors! As if that wasn’t enough, they are also well stocked with the full color range of regular Essie nail colors. As I an avid wearer of Gelish, and sometimes Shellac by CND, I was happy to hear that another major player joined the gel game. So, what did I love about Essie Gel – the colors, of course. I like to rock the same color on both my fingers and toes. Lately, I have been getting two colors on my nails (a single nail on each hand painted in a contrasting color) and matching my toes to one of them. The problem with the other gel collections is finding a regular nail lacquer that matches the gel perfectly. I almost never succeed. There are times when the color has been so different than expected that a second color had to be overlayed to try for a match. Essie Gel offers a no hassle match between it’s gels and regular polish. I was glad to put the color matching craziness behind me. The spa is new and offers all the comforts and amenities you’d expect in a place of its caliber. The price for Essie Gel was slightly higher than what I pay for Gelish or Shellac. Is it worth it? You’ll have to check back and see. Essie Gel promises 14 days of wear. I can already tell you that I received my first chip only two days after having my nails done (received service on Friday and noticed small chip on thumb nail Sunday). I will update this post after 14 days to let you know how Essie Gel performs.
The application process, however, was very different. I am accustomed to having one hand of nails polished and then curing the freshly painted nails all at once. According to the therapist at The Nail Spa, Essie’s gel procedure requires that each nail be polished and cured individually. How does this change the game? It makes the application process longer you almost never have a free hand! Trying to enjoy a cup of tea or water or tweet is nearly impossible having each nail polished and cured separately on alternating hands. The different process didn’t spoil the experience for me but I do prefer curing one hand at a time.
The Nail Spa is professional and comfortable place to receive spa services. I would certainly recommend spa to a friend.
