Well that developed quickly. Malls across the capital including Yas Mall and The Galleria re-opened to the public on May 2, 2020. At that time people over the age of 60 were not allowed to enter shopping malls but there was no stated exclusion for children. Now, there is.
The Emirates News Agency (WAM) has released a statement on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHaP) and the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) stating that people over the age of 60 and children younger than 12 are prohibited from entering shopping malls, cooperative societies, and supermarkets. These precautions are in order to ensure their health and safety amid the coronavirus pandemic.
They are also prohibited from entering retail stores located outside shopping centers.
The decision was made as part of the precautionary measures and restrictions governing the re-opening of shopping malls and commercial centers in the UAE.
