It’s true. Twitter is changing but this new feature might add a positive twist. I love Twitter – as it is – in all its real-time glory so I was a bit alarmed when the net was abuzz with rumors of a new algorithm, reverse order timeline and for goodness sake, the ominous tag, #RIPTwitter. But alas, my favorite social media platform has set the record straight and given us a slightly new way to get our tweet on.
Twitter announced a new timeline feature that allows you to catch up on the best tweets from the people you follow. Here’s how it works. Just go into the timeline section of your settings and choose ‘Show me the best Tweets first’. Then when you open Twitter after being away for a while, the Tweets you’re most likely to care about will appear at the top of your timeline. You will still see the most recent tweets first and in reverse chronological order. The rest of the Tweets will be displayed right underneath, also in reverse chronological order. At any point, just pull-to-refresh to see all new Tweets at the top via the live, up-to-the-second experience you already know and love. If you don’t like it, let the Twitter team know by sending your feedback.
Are you active on Twitter? I am. You can follow me at @GlobalGazette.
