Motorola released the new Moto G Smartphone in the UAE last week. At that time, Motorola was a wholly owned subsidiary of Google. This morning social media networks are all a buzz with the news of computer giant, Lenovo’s acquisition of the company. While this type of transaction is sure to change business for both brands, for now reports confirm that scheduled launch events for the Moto G will continue as planned. So, let’s talk about this new smartphone.
In a well appointed ballroom at Atlantis The Palm in Dubai, executives from Motorola and Brightstar introduced the Moto G. Speaking at the press conference, Magnus Ahlqvist, Corporate Vice President – EMEA & APAC, Motorola Mobility, said that the incredibly low price of Moto G will allow an increasing number of consumers to experience the full advantages of mobile Internet, with the power to multi-task and run the latest games and apps smoothly. He noted that, “…half a billion people will buy a smartphone under $200 USD this year and they deserve the best”. Moto G is positioned to provide them with just that.
Consumers can also customize their Moto G phones to reflect their own unique style by changing the back of the phone to match their taste. The attractive back covers – called Motorola Shells – are available in a wide variety of colors and styles. In addition, the phone is equipped with Grip Shells to give Moto G added protection all around the edges and the front of the display. Plus, Flip Shells on the Moto G can both protect the display and automatically turn it on when you open the cover and off when you close it. In addition to Motorola Shells, you can customize your Moto G with a family of color-matched accessories to complement your favorite shells, including SOL Republic JAX wired headsets and Tracks Air wireless headphones, wireless speakers from JBL, and a range of Motorola Power Packs for charging on the go.
Motorola secured great partnerships to offer some power packed features. The phone runs on a Snapdragon processor with 1.2 GHz CPU and 1 GB RAM. Withe the purchase of every Moto G, the buyer receives 50 GB Free storage on Google Drive for two years. Moto G is distributed by Brightstar Corp., Motorola’s exclusive mobile products distributor in the Middle East. Leveraging Brightstar’s extensive distribution network in the region, the new smartphone is available at all major electronics outlets and mobile stores across the country. Moto G’s 8GB version retails at Dhs899 while the 16 GB configuration is priced at Dhs999.
