Instagram, the Facebook owned photo sharing tool, has added video to its list of capabilities. Now you might be wondering why this post is categorized in mobile as opposed to social media. I decided to place this in mobile because that is largely, almost entirely, where this new feature will be used. Mobile video is on the upswing.
Instead of simply posting photos that capture the moment, Instagram user can now record and share 15 seconds of video at a time. That’s nearly double the time that its counterpart, Vine allows and Instagram video does not loop. You get 15 seconds of continuous recording time. Even better, Instagram videographers can apply 13 new filters to their footage. To use the new feature, make sure that you’ve updated your app to the latest version available. When you click the capture button, you’ll notice that the camera roll icon has been relocated to the left and there’s a new video camera icon on the right side. This is definitely a step in the right direction for the platform and I can’t wait to try it out.
