Do you experience frequent breakouts? Are you tired of the scars acne can leave behind? If so, you can empower yourself to do something about it. While it’s impossible to completely avoid the occasional pimple, you can adopt habits and choose products to help decrease the frequency of acne. Check out these tips to combat acne and keep your face beautiful.

Wash Your Face
Washing your face is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent breakouts. Use an oil-free face wash that contains salicylic acid at least two times a day. Handle your face gently and be sure not to overdo it. I currently alternate between Neutrogena 2-in-1 Face Wash and Mask and Neutrogena Deep Clean face wash. The mask has microbeads and salicylic acid which helps fight acne and exfoliate the skin. The Deep Clean face wash is what I use at night for a more gentle process.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!
After washing, apply a moisturizer with SPF for the ultimate protection of your skin. Make sure that the moisturizer is both oil and fragrance free. Some companies specialize in skin care and treatment of acne such as Clean & Clear who offers a moisturizer containing anti-blemish ingredients to help remove acne scars.

Hands Off!
While many mistakenly like to pop their pimples, most people aren’t aware of how often or how much they touch their faces. Try to pay attention to how many times you touch your face and you’ll be better at controlling it. Most importantly, wash your hands throughout the day as well.

Perform a Makeup Check-up
A good way to get rid of acne is by examining what you’re putting on your face. Always be aware of  how makeup affects your skin’s health and appearance. Choose an oil-free foundation that contains salicylic acid. That way, everything you put on your face works together to prevent breakouts. Furthermore, adhere to makeup expiration dates. Yes, makeup does not last forever. It expires. Also, be sure to clean your makeup brushes regularly. Dirty brushes can hold bacteria that becomes redeposited onto your skin with each use. Lastly, you must never forget to remove your makeup every single day before going to bed. Leaving your makeup on is not good for your skin. I currently use Neutrogena makeup removing wipes which does the job quickly.
