On September 9, 2013, Lenovo Middle East invited media and tech enthusiasts to the JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai to survey the largest selection of Touch devices in the UAE. The product range included smartphones, tablets, Ultrabooks, convertibles and All-in-Ones; Specifically, visitors were able to experience the Horizon Table PC, Flex laptops, Flex and ThinkCenter All-in-One (AIO) desktops, Twist, ThinkPad Tablet 2, ThinkPad Helix and ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch, Yoga convertibles and Android-based tablets and smartphones.
The innovative machines will cater to businesses and consumers alike. According to Lenovo staff, the primary distinction between business and consumer is that the devices made specifically for business have a combination of advanced performance and hardware-based protection. SMBs and entrepreneurs receive the hardware and proprietary software to manage their own PCs as well as any established networks.
There were tons of cool things to touch and you can find out more about all of them on the Lenovo website. I particularly enjoyed the ThinkPad Helix and the IdeaCentre Horizon. Here’s why…
This is one heck of a convertible laptop made with Lenovo’s ground breaking “rip and flip” design. It’s an ultra flexible machine with four…that’s right, four usage modes; laptop mode, tablet mode, stand mode and tablet+ mode. When my tour guide detached the monitor from the keyboard completely to demonstrate tablet+ mode, I was thoroughly impressed. Specs: up to Intel Core i7 processor, Windows 8 Pro optimized with pen and multi-touch inputs, up to 4G LTE
The 27″ IdeaCentre Horizon multi-mode PC enables users to experience the machine as a Desktop or Table PC. The Horizon includes unique gaming accessories that interact with the multi-touch apps making it THE gaming console for the entire family. I actually held a puck and played air hockey on this Table PC. It was so much fun and I scored two goals. I can see families enjoying this device in both modes. Specs: up to Intel Core i7 processor, Windows 8, up to NVIDIA GeForce GT 620M 2GB graphics with DirectX 11, expected to debut in the Middle East in December between 5000-6000 dhs (Note: IdeaCentre link above is the Lenovo U.S. site)
