The e-commerce only Honor brand, owned by Huawei, recently launched its newest smartphone, Honor 6 Plus, in the UAE. The fast and furious themed event was set at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi where media were given the chance to drive real Formula 3000 racing vehicles. The launch event, much like the new device, was ‘For The Brave”. Top executives from Huawei and Souq.com, the exclusive online retailer for Honor 6 Plus, were on-hand to introduce the new smartphone.
“Honor is a sub brand of Huawei, focusing the generation of the promising internet youth” says Mr. Sun Baigong, the head of online sales in consumer BG, Huawei Middle East. “’Honor’ emphasizes the connection between the brand spirit and users, leverages the high quality and price, mainly focuses on Internet users, and sells mainly through e-commerce platforms. We believe in digital, that’s why we are partnering with the biggest e-commerce platform in the region, Souq.com. Souq.com shares Honor’s vision to bring more people to enjoy the wonderful connected digital world.”
“We’re excited to be partnering with Huawei to bring what is probably one of the most exciting smartphone brands for the young generation to this region.” Says Ronaldo Mouchawar, CEO & Co-Founder of Souq.com. “We have seen a huge appetite for high-tech, moderately priced smartphones on Souq.com, especially in KSA and UAE where we can sell tens of thousands of devices in a single day for a big launch. And this is our biggest, so we have very high expectations for its reception and success in this market.”
For The Brave
This event had a lot of moving parts – pun intended. Following the introduction of Honor 6 Plus, we heard from Amna and Hamda Al Qubaisi, who attended the launch event as brand ambassadors, to represent the spirit of the Honor brand, which is “For The Brave”. The sisters are semi-professional go-karters, and Hamda recently made history by becoming the first Emirati girl to win in the final round of the UAE Rotax Max Challenge championship in the Mini Max Category. Way to go ladies!
The highlight of the experience was when the bravest of the media in attendance, actually drove Formula 3000 race cars. Participants attended a short training session where they were briefed on how to drive including starting the engine, shifting gears, maneuvering, speed, safety precautions and what to do in case you lose control of the vehicle or wreck. I was brave enough to admit that I was not prepared to take the wheel and spent my time getting acquainted with the phone instead.
Here are the top three features that in my opinion, sets Honor 6 Plus apart from the rest…
- The key selling point of Honor 6 Plus device is the bionic parallel and dual rear camera with super max aperture. The Honor 6 Plus is the first smartphone device to feature a dual rear camera, meaning it doubles the capture and conversion of light for better photographs.
- The new device also boasts super-fast charge and a superior battery life. Fully charging in just 2 hours, 51 minutes, the device will last for 1.25 days on heavy usage, far outstripping some of the other top devices in the market.
- Honor 6 Plus is also capable of charging a second mobile device using its OTG (on-the-go) battery charging function. The smartphone was made for the digital power user and this feature is definitely in line with that mission.
Customers can purchase Honor 6 Plus which will be available to buy in the UAE & KSA from 12th May, exclusively through www.Souq.com, the official sales partner of Honor in the Middle East.
