Thierry Seys, Volkswagen General Manager, Al Nabooda Automobiles, hands over the first delivery of the new Golf GTI

Al Nabooda Automobiles has received the first shipment of the new seventh generation Golf GTI, the original performance hatchback, making the dealership the first in the region to offer the iconic new model to customers. To mark the occasion, Al Nabooda Automobiles hosted an exclusive event at the Volkswagen Showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road – 26 June 2013 – to do the official handover of the vehicles to the first 30 Golf GTI customers.

The dealership presented the new owners with their car key along with an exclusive Golf GTI watch, as well as an official certificate and a personalized number plate. This had to be the most elaborate new car pick-up in history. The new owners were escorted to their vehicles by a personal Al Nabooda representative and allowed to drive their new rides out of the showroom. See footage of the exchange below.

With more speed, better fuel economy, improved dynamics, and increased safety the arrival of the seventh generation Golf GTI will be welcome news to anyone who has a passion for superior performance cars. Powered by a turbocharged petrol direct-injection engine (TSI) with 162 kW / 220 PS – the standard GTI accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 244 km/h. The sporty DNA of the Golf GTI is suitably reflected in its traditional red-painted brake callipers, two chrome tailpipes and sport suspension. The exterior is complemented with 18-inch “Brooklyn” GTI wheels, special side sills, a diffuser and smoked LED rear lights (including LED licence plate illumination).

Visual highlights in the interior are sport seats in tartan pattern (“Clark”) or black leather, a black roofliner and red ambience lighting. Don’t let the compact size fool you. The Golf GTI is roomy inside. Although I didn’t get to physically try it out, my mommy vision tells me that a standard sized child safety seat will fit comfortably in the back seat of the 4-door model.

In the market for a new ride? Head on over to Al Nabooda Automobiles, where they make you feel like family, and check out the seventh generation Golf GTI.
