On December 4, 2013, Costa Coffee celebrated the opening of its 100th store. The new location is positioned on the top floor of World Trade Center Mall which is nestled in the heart of downtown, Abu Dhabi. The store features an open air concept and comfortable seating options with rich tones and textures. Costa is a vibrant coffee shop; one you can work and play inside.

The company celebrated this milestone by hosting executives, media and other distinguished guests for an afternoon filled with food and fun. Eric Hughes, Costa Coffee GM, performed a ribbon cutting and very candidly explained to guests how momentous an occasion it was for Costa to have opened its 100th location. He also shared interesting facts about the history of the company and its’ goals for future expansion. Hughes commented,

“The UAE market is strong and with Dubai selected to host the Expo 2020 there is a great potential for growth. We are well positioned to enjoy this unique opportunity and our aim is to deliver long term sustainable and profitable growth while always delivering value and an unwavering quality experience for our customers”.

His speech was short but informative. Hughes taught me a lot about Costa Coffee that I will likely always remember. Check out my list of fun facts after the break…

While there, I sampled food and drinks. Their Festive Favourites menu features a Gingerbread and Cream Latte that I loved. It was sweet and smooth and reminiscent of this time of year. I definitely recommend giving it a try. Another favorite for me was their lemon muffin. It was decadent but not too sweet and even better, it’s a low fat menu item. On my way out, I grabbed a strawberry lemonade that I enjoyed during my ride home.

I had a lovely afternoon being hosted by Costa Coffee and the celebration continues.
