Step Conference is the Middle East’s largest gathering of entrepreneurs and global brands in the technology, digital and music industries. For the second consecutive year, Cadillac Middle East was a key sponsor of the event. To spur excitement about the ‘Future of Mobility’, the luxury car brand rolled out its – award winning Cadillac CT6 – a vehicle packed with futuristic features.

The 2018 Cadillac CT6 will feature Super Cruise, the industry’s first true hands-free driving technology for the highway. Super Cruise utilizes two advanced technology systems – a driver attention system and precision LiDAR map data – to ensure safe vehicle operation. The hands-free capability helps you complete common tasks in the car, such as using the navigation system, adjusting the audio or taking a phone call while the driver attention system keeps you safe.

How does the Driver Attention System keep you safe?

The driver attention system uses a small camera located on the top of the steering column that focuses exclusively on the driver. It works with infrared lights to track head position and determine where the driver is looking whenever Super Cruise is in use. If the system detects that the driver has turned his attention away from the road for too long, it will prompt them to look back at the road ahead. If the driver does not immediately refocus on the road, Super Cruise will continue to safely steer the vehicle and issue more alerts. A steering wheel light bar will be illuminated to guide the driver’s line of vision back to the road. Additional alerts can include visual indicators in the instrument cluster, tactile alerts in Cadillac’s Safety Alert Seat and audible alerts, if necessary. In the limited event of an unresponsive driver, the Cadillac CT6 will utilize on-board driver assistance technologies to bring the car to a controlled stop and, if necessary, contact OnStar to alert first responders.

What is Precision LiDAR Map Data?

Super Cruise is the first assisted driving technology that will use precision LiDAR map data. The car uses the real-time data provided by on-board cameras and sensors to govern steering, braking and acceleration. Super Cruise has also leveraged this advanced laser technology to create a LiDAR-scanned map database. The combination of real-time data with precision mapping improves vehicle control and only allows the system to be used when appropriate road conditions are detected.

STEP goers had the opportunity to try out Cadillac exclusive features during the conference. Nadim Ghrayeb, Regional Sales and Marketing Manager, Cadillac Middle East commented during the event, “We have continued our support for this great event as it personifies us perfectly. It gathers entrepreneurs and big industry players from across the region that share the core beliefs of our brand, who personify our ‘Dare Greatly’ brand direction. We will keep supporting great platforms like this one, as we continue to inspire people who look for a way to shape a progressive culture, and create distinguished designs and innovations that move us forward.”
